The Christian Citizenship & Social Services (CC&SS) Department of the Methodist Church in Fiji conducted an important awareness program at Kinoya Methodist Church within the Kinoya Division on 28 April 2026, focusing on disaster risk reduction in the context of climate change.
As communities throughout Fiji continue to experience the growing effects of stronger cyclones, flooding, coastal erosion, and rising sea levels, the program served as a timely reminder of the Church's responsibility to respond with faith, wisdom, and practical action. Participants were encouraged to reflect on how environmental stewardship and care for vulnerable communities are closely connected to our Christian calling.
Through meaningful discussions, shared experiences, and learning sessions, members explored ways to prepare spiritually and practically for natural disasters. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of protecting God's creation, strengthening community resilience, and supporting those most at risk during times of crisis.
This initiative reflects the ongoing mission of the Church to be present not only within the sanctuary, but also in addressing the real challenges affecting families and communities today. Our faith must be lived out through service, compassion, preparedness, and hope.
