The President of the Methodist Church in Fiji, Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou, delivered a compelling opening statement at the 2026 Awareness Program held at Centenary Church in Suva, setting a clear and transformative vision for the Church's direction. The program brought together Ministers, Stewards, Catechists, and Church Treasurers from across the country.
Reverend Turagavou emphasized that the primary objective of the awareness program is to enlighten and align the hearts and minds of Church leaders toward a shared vision. Looking ahead to 2026–2027, the Church is committed to advancing to a higher standard of ministry, guided by a clear vision and a pure purpose.
Central to achieving this vision is personal commitment from Church leaders. The President called for discipline, intentional planning, and the willingness to let go of practices that hinder spiritual growth. He underscored that unity, harmony, and the presence of God must guide all aspects of Church life and ministry.
The President further stressed the importance of unity across all levels of the Church, urging members to set aside differences and work together in love. Collaboration with fellow Christians and communities was highlighted as essential in addressing national challenges, including rural development, climate change, youth support, and community wellbeing.
Concluding his address, the President reaffirmed the Church's focus on "Liberation and Reformation," calling for a collective effort to free members from harmful practices and pave the way for true renewal within the Church.
