The Retreat for the Divisional Superintendents and Chief Stewards started in Suva, where the President of the Methodist Church, Dr. Semisi Turagavou, shared several important directions that will guide the life and mission of the Church in the coming years.
Key areas of focus include:
- Strengthening Stewardship — Moving from the traditional levy system to a model of Heart and Faith Giving, encouraging members to give willingly and faithfully.
- Financial Responsibility — All circuits and divisions are encouraged to work towards clearing outstanding debts to vendors and individuals by August 2026.
- Pastoral Care & Connection — Ministers and church leaders will begin home visitations to every Methodist household during 2025–2026.
- Wise Use of Church Resources — Greater attention to the development of idle church land and assets.
- Leadership Structure — Ministers above the age of 66 will continue to serve through circuit appointments.
- Raising the Next Generation — Intentional mentoring and training of young leaders.
- Shared Leadership — Leaders are encouraged to delegate responsibilities and empower others.
- Conference Centre Vision — Circuits will collect free-will offerings toward the new Conference Centre, with a target of August 2026.
- Looking Ahead — The Church is preparing spiritually and structurally for 2027 as the "Year of Liberation and Reformation."
Let us continue to pray, serve, and work together as we strengthen the mission of the Church for the future.
